One of the best and most memorable drummers of the world scene Steve Gadd  took home his first Grammy at the 61st annual Grammy Awards .The Steve Gadd Band’s self-titled album won for for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. 

In addition to the award winning performance in the performance of this eminent musician, Julian Lage, Marcus Miller, Simon Phillips and Christian Scott were nominated. Gadd was recently nominated for the last time in 2016 for the jazz album “Way Back Home: Live from Rochester, NY” filmed at the 2015 International Jazz Festival.

Modern Love by Julian Lage, Laid Back by Marcus Miller, Protocol 4 by Simon Phillips and The Emancipation Procrastination by Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah were also nominated for the award, which was given during the pre-Grammy show. In one of his interviews during his career, he said that  great influence on him and his work had, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Rick Marotta.

Gadd was admitted to the Music Hall of Fame in Rochester last year, along with his good friend, Tony Levine.
